Iran has released video of a deadly clash between its security forces and what it called “terrorists” linked to Israel in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan. The footage, shown on state media, included blurred images of six fighters who were killed, as well as weapons and explosives that officials said were seized during the raid.
According to Iranian authorities, two other suspects were arrested. Officials claimed the group was planning an attack on an important facility in eastern Iran, though they did not say which one. They described the fighters as “seven non-Iranian terrorists” and said there was evidence of support from Israel, which they called “Zionist backing.” However, no information was given about the nationalities of the men.
The clash left several Iranian officers wounded, including two intelligence agents and a police officer. The fight comes after a series of recent attacks in the same province, which had already killed at least six Iranian police officers.
Sistan and Baluchistan, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan, has long been a troubled region in Iran. Separatist and armed groups there often clash with government forces. Tehran has repeatedly accused Israel of giving help to such groups, in an effort to destabilize the country. Israel has not commented on these latest claims.
The deadly confrontation highlights the continuing violence in the border area, where Iran faces both separatist activity and cross-border smuggling. Officials in Tehran say they will increase security measures and respond strongly to what they see as foreign-backed threats.
The release of the video is part of Iran’s effort to show that it is actively fighting these groups. Still, the situation remains tense, with fears of more attacks and further violence in the region.
