Renowned Italian architect Fabio Novembre fulfilled a “long-cherished dream” on Tuesday by meeting Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus at the Yunus Centre. This visit marks Novembre’s first trip to Bangladesh, driven by his deep admiration for Yunus’s work, particularly the impact of Banker to the Poor in Italy.
During their dialogue, Novembre hailed Yunus as a “living example.” When asked about his enduring motivation, Professor Yunus cited people as his greatest inspiration. He emphasized a radical shift in education through his vision for Grameen University, an institution designed to cultivate entrepreneurs instead of job seekers.

“Human life begins with imagination,” Yunus remarked, noting that traditional education often stifles creativity by training students only to follow instructions.
The meeting also touched upon Yunus’s strong ties with Italy, including the five Yunus Social Business Centres established in Italian universities and collaborations with the International Olympic Committee. As a token of friendship, Novembre presented Yunus with a copy of Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities. The meeting was attended by Lamiya Morshed (Yunus Centre) and Donatella Di Virgilio (Embassy of Italy).
