Brazil has officially joined the Singapore Convention on Mediation, an international agreement that supports the use of mediation to settle business disputes between countries. Brazil ratified the Convention on 6 August 2025 and will become a full member on 6 February 2026.

However, Brazil made a special rule saying the agreement will not apply to mediation cases where the Brazilian government or its agencies are directly involved.
The Singapore Convention helps make trade between countries easier by giving a common legal system for recognizing and enforcing mediation agreements. The Convention is managed by UNCITRAL, a UN body that works to improve and unify international trade laws.
