Belgrade – Petar Petkovic, head of Serbia’s Office for Kosovo-Metohija, warned on Monday that a military alliance between the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) and the Albanian army is a direct threat to Serbia and the Serbian people. The alliance was announced by Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
Petkovic said this move shows the real policy of Pristina, which he believes is aimed against Belgrade and is another step toward creating a so-called “Greater Albania.”
He pointed out that Pristina has already made military ties with NATO members Albania and Croatia, and that the international community has not reacted to these developments. According to him, such alliances are dangerous because they could destabilize the region and turn the Western Balkans into a “new powder keg.”
Petkovic accused Kurti of being allowed to act freely, even at a time when the world is facing major challenges to peace. Instead of calming tensions, Petkovic said, Pristina is raising the risk of conflict by forming these military partnerships.
He reminded that, under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244, the only legal military presence in Kosovo-Metohija is KFOR, the NATO-led peacekeeping mission.
Petkovic concluded that Pristina’s actions are not about peace but about escalation and confrontation, and that Serbia views these steps as a serious security threat.
