The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) 1st Commando Battalion and the Indonesian National Defence Forces (TNI) Special Forces Command (KOPASSUS) have completed the 31st Exercise Chandrapura (XCP) from 2 to 8 September 2025 in Singkawang, Indonesia. The exercise showed the strong friendship and trust between the two armed forces, built through many years of working together.
During the exercise, soldiers shared their knowledge on commando tactics, planning, and techniques. They also joined in a field training exercise on jungle warfare, where both sides worked together to attack an enemy target. Other activities included an airborne static line jump, which helped the soldiers build trust, teamwork, and closer bonds.
The closing ceremony was led by the SAF’s 1st Commando Battalion Commanding Officer, LTC Kok Yi Long, and TNI KOPASSUS’s 32nd Battalion Commanding Officer, MAJ Michael Ronald Simbolon. Both officers also witnessed the exchange of airborne wings between the two forces.

LTC Kok said the exercise showed the strong cooperation between the Singapore and Indonesian Armed Forces, especially the close ties between the Commandos and KOPASSUS. He added that the friendships and trust built during the exercise will continue into the future.
Exercise Chandrapura was first held in 1994, and it remains an important part of the defence relationship between Singapore and Indonesia. Besides this exercise, the Singapore Army and the Indonesian Army also take part in many other activities such as official visits, training courses, and professional exchanges. These regular interactions not only improve military professionalism but also strengthen mutual understanding and long-term defence ties between the two countries.
